Pest Control Harpenden

Harpenden is greener and lower-density than most of the towns we cover, and that changes what we are called out for. Harpenden Common, Rothamsted Park, Batford Springs and the Lea catchment sit right against housing, and the mature oak, beech and lime along the roads off the High Street, Southdown and Kinsbourne Green press hard against tile and soffit. Wasps, hornets and grey squirrels get an easy route onto the roofline, and our season for them runs longer here than in the denser towns.

The building stock is largely Victorian, Edwardian and inter-war, with generous roof voids, deep eaves, suspended timber floors and chimney stacks. Squirrels and rodents enter at chimney flashings, lifted verge tiles and eaves junctions, and mice run under suspended floors. That makes exclusion — mesh, carpentry and sealing — the substantive part of the work rather than an add-on.

The gardens themselves do the rest. Large plots with compost heaps, chicken coops, bird feeders, log stores and raised decking supply food and harbourage, so rats here are usually a garden and outbuilding problem first. Batford, Southdown, Hatching Green and the Kinsbourne Green and Kimpton fringe add farmland-edge field mouse and rat work each autumn.
