How we inspect and record evidence
An inspection is a search with a method behind it. What we find is photographed at the time, labelled honestly, and attached to your record.
How a survey is run
- Start at the reported sighting, then work outwards to the likely source
- Follow the routes a species actually uses — services, voids, roof spaces, sub-floor
- Read surfaces under raking light rather than room light
- Use a borescope where a void cannot be opened up
- Record negative findings as well as positive ones, so a return visit has a baseline
How evidence is labelled
Our Evidence Centre publishes photographs under strict labelling. Anything photographed by a technician on a genuine visit is marked as treatment evidence. Anything produced to illustrate an identification point is marked as an educational reference image and is never presented as a job photograph.
No customer photograph is published without approval, and identifying detail — addresses, vehicles, personal belongings — is excluded.
Body-worn camera
Technicians may record work using a body-worn camera in line with our published policy. Recording, retention and access are covered in that policy, which is available in full on this website.
