Safety, legality and compliance
Pest control is a regulated activity carried out in people's homes. The controls below are not optional extras.
Before any product is used
- A site risk assessment covering access, occupants, children, pets and vulnerable persons
- A COSHH assessment for every product carried, available at the property on request
- Consideration of non-target species and wildlife before any rodenticide is placed
- A written plan you see before work starts
Rodenticide use
- Placed only in tamper-resistant, secured stations
- Every placement recorded on the service record
- Used as part of a plan that includes proofing, not as a permanent measure
- All bait recovered and disposed of correctly at the end of the programme
Wildlife and the law
All wild birds, their active nests and their eggs are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. Bats and their roosts are protected, and any work near a roost stops until it is resolved properly.
Where the lawful answer is 'not yet' — an active nest, a protected species, a job that needs a specialist — we say so and explain what can be done in the meantime.
In your property
- PPE matched to the task, and equipment cleaned between properties
- Clear re-entry instructions given in writing after treatment
- Carcasses and contaminated material removed and disposed of correctly
- Any damage, access issue or unexpected finding recorded and reported to you
